Full course description

The blend of Utah’s different cultures with having disabilities makes it challenging for Direct Service Providers (DSP’s) and other helping professionals to fully understand and support their clients. To offer the best assistance, DSP’s need to know about disabilities, be able to share information and resources in plain language, and recognize people from various cultures may understand “disability” differently.

Combining knowledge from research data and experiences of people with lived experience, this course will broaden your understanding of what it means to have a disability, and how cultural background impacts that understanding.

This course and all of Utah’s Multicultural Disability Network & Training content are designed to clarify what it means to have a disability for diverse people, and how helping professionals can be the best allies possible.
